Aned Ladino, BA 2014 – Peace Corps

June 17, 2015

“The Latin American Program helped me discover many aspects of a region that I thought I knew. I am Colombian, yet I did know much about neighboring countries. Now, I have a solid background in history, politics, anthropology, literature and the culture of Latin America. The knowledge and understanding I acquired will help inform my service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Ecuador.”

After graduating from UCF, I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ecuador in the Youth and Families program from 2015 to 2017. I had the opportunity to work with HIAS, an organization that assists refugees in Ecuador and around the world. Having a background in Latin American Studies, helped me to understand the different aspects of the political climate, history and culture of Ecuador which made my services to be more successful. Currently, I am working on my Spanish MA Degree back at UCF, and I am the president of the Spanish Graduate Association (SaGA)
