Study Aboard: EducationUSA in Cusco, Peru

August 11, 2016

“My internship was in connection with a company called Education USA. The office is hosted in an English school called Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano Cusco, or ICPNAC. Education USA provides advising and support for students who wish to study abroad in the United States at any level of higher education. I spent my time tutoring students for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam, helping students through their application processes to universities, tutoring groups of students in the Programa Nacional de Becas y Créditos Educativos (PRONABEC), and teaching my very own Intermediate English class. My week days were very busy, but my work environment, the students, and my boss were all beyond wonderful to work with. During my stay, ICPNAC held a conference for all of the bi-national centers in Peru. I met professionals from all over the country, sat in on workshops, and attended Education USA strategic planning meetings. In my free time, I tried to visit new restaurants every day. I had the opportunity to witness weekly parades in the incredible Plaza de Armas, attend a festival for Fiestas Patrias or Peruvian independence Day, and hike the Ausungate trail to La Montaña Arco Iris.”
