It has been seven months since graduating from UCF with my BA in Latin American Studies and Humanities and Cultural Studies. Since then I have been working with some great people and an even better organization.
I am currently working at a nonprofit in Wimauma called Enterprising Latinas as a Economic Opportunity Assistant to the Director of Economic Prosperity. At our center we promote access, agency and assets towards Latinas. We provide many services like English classes, Certified Nursing Assistant Certifications, Sewing Classes, Employment Services and much more!
My department (Economic Opportunity) works with the community to promote economic opportunities like a free WiFi mesh network, which provides WiFi to businesses and residents. I also work as a Teacher’s Assistant for a Business Development Course, which educates new and upcoming young entrepreneurs. Soon we hope to launch a bus transportation service called Arriba Transportation. Lastly, I am coordinating our second Wimauma Shops which promotes vendors businesses to the community. It is very exciting to learn about the community needs and which work will be needed to assist.”
